The Danger of Parabens

Parabens have been used for almost 70 years and may actually be harmful to our health.

Parabens are preservatives that have been used in many personal care products, because they stop fungus, bacteria and other microbes from growing in your creams, makeup, cosmetics, mascaras, shaving gels, personal lubricants, spray tanning solutions, toothpastes, pharmaceutical products, especially in the bathroom where it’s moist and warm. They are also used as food additives.

Parabens are chemicals with estrogen-like properties, and estrogen is one of the hormones involved in the development of breast cancer.

Here are some of the names Parabens are called.

Ethylparaben, Methylparaben,, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, E216

One concern is that the estrogen-mimicking aspect of parabens may be a factor in the increase of early puberty in girls.

Some of the questions are:

Are parabens linked to breast cancer because they can to an extend  mimic estrogen?

Are declining sperm counts and the increase of male breast cancer and testicular cancer related to the fact that these chemicals can be absorbed into our skin, and can potentially disrupt our endocrine systems?

Just to be on the safe side, read the labels and stay away from the stuff!

As for me, I don’t want to use or offer any products that contain any kind of parabens.
