New Year…New You…Start Now

Today I want to share some inspirations with you.

As you may know, I was nominated for Oakville’s Entrepreneur of the year 2009.
We had a beautiful reception and later on an Award night. I didn’t win the award, but one of my clients did. I was so happy for her.

When I was on stage with the other wonderful people who were also nominated, the whole experience gave me an incredible insight and a new perspective.

We don’t need to be famous, a celebrity or a millionaire to make a difference.

My whole life I strived to be better, have more education, do more, help others.
I left Austria where I grew up and came to Canada on my own, learning to fend for myself. Some years later I got married,  had a daughter, then chose to leave my husband to be a single mom. That’s when I started my beauty business from scratch.

Whatever I accomplished was never enough in my own mind. I  always wanted to inspire and help others to make a change while I strived to be  a “super woman”.

When I was told in January that I was nominated for Oakville’s Entrepreneur of the year 2009 I was shocked, then I got so excited and the more I thought about it, I realized that other people see more in me than I do sometimes and I also realized once again that I don’t give myself any credit for
the positive things I do because I am so driven to push for more. Can you relate to that? Most women and even some men are in that boat.

People often tell me that I am an inspiration to them because I share my stories, experiences and struggles about my life with them. I have been committed to help others feel good about themselves, because any positive change on the inside radiates to the outside and affects many people around us… even if we are not aware of it.

Do you know that a simple smile can make someone’s day? I am always amazed to see that glow when someone looks at me with a nice big smile on their face. It makes me so aware of the effect that I just want to pass it on to others.

Because we are all so busy doing our thing, dealing with our day to day lives and stress, we often don’t realize how much of an impact we are making in the lives of others around us.

Take a few moments to think about the people in your life and how you are effecting them. Be proud of yourself for your contribution. Celebrate all the little successes every day and believe in yourself.

Keep in mind when you acknowledge and compliment others, you and them will feel good about themselves and soon everyone will start to soar like an eagle because of the positive energy! I have to say, now that I have been nominated, I feel even more responsibility to go out there and live up to it. It is motivating me to do more. Think of the teachers and trainers that motivate people or kids by praising and rewarding verses the people that scold.

I felt so blessed to have been acknowledged for my work, but I also realized that there are  many inspiring people out there that don’t get that acknowledgement. Take time today to call three people and give them wings to fly by telling them how they have made an impact in your life.

I think it’s also important to have a relationship with a higher power, God, spirit, universe or whatever you want to call it. As we listen to that small voice inside or go with our gut feeling, that’s when we can really make a change in the world around us. To me, that connection has always been very important.
