How Long Do Cosmetic Tattoos Last?
Tattoos and permanent makeup may need a refresher after 1 - 3 years. Permanent makeup eye tapping is gentle. It does lighten over time. Some colors wear off faster than others due to the molecule sizes and the shedding of dead skin cells.
Is It Safe?
Yes, the tattoo ink is created for permanent cosmetic make-up for the face. Different inks and pigments are used for face and body tatooing. There's also natural makeup which includes semi permanent makeup, airbrush makeup and henna tattoo.
What does a tattoo feel like?
Once it's healed you wont even know that it's there. Permanent make-up, also known as micropigmentation, is a gentle micro-implantation of pigment into the epidermis which is the outer layer of the skin. The equipment and techniques are similar to tatooing except a bit gentler and less painful.
Tattoo Aftercare
Topical anaesthetics are used to minimize any discomfort you may have. Some pain, swelling and redness will occur for a few days after the procedure, but you can resume normal activities right after. If you have the top and bottom eyeliners done at the same time, your eyes will be red and swollen. Especially the next few days. Some technicians tattoo eyeliners very thin which means you wont have too much swelling. However, not everyone is happy with such a thin eyeliner.
Scaling and scabbing may happen over the week or so while it's healing. It is important that you take proper care of your tattoo and follow the instructions your specialist gives you. Apply the proper ointment for the next week or two to protect your permanent makeup.
Consultation
Usually the consultation is free, but it depends on the tattoo parlor. Be aware that many of them do not use any anesthetic. However, at our day spa we do a detailed consultation at no extra charge and we use topical anesthetic.

You will get an information sheet which gives you the before and after procedure care instructions when you come in for your appointment.

Things you should know!
Allergic reactions to tattoo dye are rare, but allergic reactions and scarring can be a risk. If an allergic reaction occurs from a dye, it is usually to the red dye. Allergies are an overreaction of the immune system. If you are an athlete or sports enthusiast, permanent cosmetic tattooing lets you relax and feel confident about your look. We call it waterproof make-up and you do not need to keep re-applying it. That gives you freedom. There's also semi permanent makeup which lasts only a few weeks.
