How Long Do Cosmetic Tattoos Last?

Tattoos and permanent makeup may need a refresher after 1 - 3 years. Permanent makeup eye tapping is gentle. It does lighten over time. Some colors wear off faster than others due to the molecule sizes and the shedding of dead skin cells.

Is It Safe?

Yes. The tattoo ink is specially created for the face. Different inks and pigments are used for face and body tatooing. There's also natural makeup which includes semi permanent makeup, airbrush makeup and henna tattoo.

What does a tattoo feel like?

Once it's healed you wont even know that it's there. Permanent make-up is a gentle micro-implantation of pigment into the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin). The equipment and techniques are similar to tatooing except gentler and less painful.

Tattoo Aftercare

Some pain, swelling and redness will occur for a few days after the procedure. Topical anaesthetics are used to minimize any discomfort you may have. You can resume normal activities right after. If you have the top and bottom eyeliners done at the same time, your eyes will be red and swollen, especially for the next day or two. Some technicians tattoo eyeliners very thin which means you wont have too much swelling. However, not everyone is happy with such a thin eyeliner.

If you are concerned about the swelling and redness, an alternative is to do the top eyeliner first, then the bottom separately later.

Scaling and scabbing may happen over the week or so while a tatoo is healing. It is important that you take proper care of your tattoo and follow the instructions your specialist gives you. Apply the proper ointment for the next week or two to protect your permanent makeup.

Consultation

Usually the consultation is free, but it depends on the tattoo parlor. Be aware that many of them do not use any anesthetic. However, at our day spa we do a detailed consultation at no extra charge and we use topical anesthetic.

Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

You will get an information sheet which gives you the before and after procedure care instructions when you come in for your appointment.

Extra time for a consultation is needed and must be booked with our permanent makeup artist.

Suggestion

When you decide to have a permanent makeup tattoo, we recommend that you stick to natural makeup colors that enhance your skin tone.

Patch Test

Can be done 5 - 7 days before the actual procedure for a small fee.

Please Keep In Mind that the procedure will take 6 weeks to heal properly and to show the final results.

TOUCH-UP

A touch-up means repeating the entire procedure. It can be done 6 weeks after the initial procedure!

Please be patient.

Permanent lip liner usually needs a touch-up for best results. Some people need to have a touch-up on their permanent eyebrow as well. Permanent eyeliners are usually beautiful after the first procedure.

Our Prices  include one touch-up.
It has to be done within 6 - 8 weeks after the original procedure.

Questions about permanent makeup

How long does it take a tattoo to heal? Usually four to six weeks.

Things you should know!

Allergic reactions to tattoo dye are rare, but allergic reactions and scarring can be a risk. If an allergic reaction occurs from a dye, it is usually to the red dye. Allergies are an overreaction of the immune system. If you are an athlete or sports enthusiast, permanent cosmetic tattooing lets you relax and feel confident about your look. We call it waterproof make-up and you do not need to keep re-applying it. That gives you freedom. There's also semi permanent makeup which lasts only a few weeks.
