What can you Expect from Laser Hair Removal

The length of a laser hair removal treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the area being treated. It is important to know that the hairs in an active growth phase (referred to as Anagen) are most affected by the laser. As all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, it's necessary to have more than one laser treatment to achieve the desired results.

Most individual's permanent hair reduction will be between about 65 - 75% after three laser hair removal treatments. Most people need four to six treatments. Some touchups may also be needed over time. The hair that is left on a treated area is usually much lighter and finer than the hair you had before the laser treatments.

There is a certain amount of discomfort or pain (depending on individual experience and pain tolerance) associated with the treatment. There are over-the-counter treatments to help with the pain. Or we can apply topical anesthetic.

If you'd like us to apply topical anesthetic at the salon for you, you will have to come in 45 minutes before your scheduled treatment time. Cost for this service is extra.

Some people find that it helps to keep talking during your treatment. It helps to take your mind off the pain.

It is possible that a man gets an erection. It is not common, but it can happen.

Because people are nude or semi-nude during this procedure, it is important for us to mention the following:

INDECENT PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AT OUR SPA!

If that is what you have in mind, we strongly suggest that you find another place for your services.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

Yes, it is safe. By now, there have been more studies done with the LightSheer laser than any other laser around. It was developed from years of research at the Massachusett's General Hopsital's Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine, one of the world's leading research institutions. The laser parameters were carefully designed to inhibit the regrowth of hair by studying the anatomy of the hair follicles. The actively cooled sapphire hand piece was designed to conduct heat away from the skin before, during and after each pulse. Proper eye protection is an important feature during any laser treatment.

For safety, laser hair removal is not recommended when pregnant. People treated commonly experience reddening of the skin, follicular swelling and possibly hive reactions. Most skin reactions resolve within 1 to 2 hours but can last up to 24 - 48 hours after the treatment. Other temporary adverse side effects like hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) or hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) are possible, but not common.

It is important that you lower your risks by following the pre and post treatment instructions. Avoid sun exposure, suntan beds and self-tanning lotions. It is important that you protect your skin by wearing a sunscreen or a sunblock..
